Leo Nominations for UBC Theatre and Film Students faculty and Alumni

UBC DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE AND FILM CELEBRATES STUDENTS, FACULTY AND ALUMNI 
RECOGNISED AT THE 2013 LEO NOMINATIONS

Congratulations to all of our UBC Department of Theatre and Film students, faculty and alumni who have garnered a total of 35 Leo Award Nominations this year! 

We’re especially pleased to see our student’s work recognized by the Leo Awards. BFA Film Production alumni Theresa Konrad, Alice Deegan and Laura Good shot “Feint” as a 4th year student film. “Feint” has now earned this trio of producers a nomination for Best Student Film. Konrad also received a nod for Best Production Design in a Short Drama for the film. 

Huge kudos to our Film Production student Baharak Saeid Monir whose MFA Thesis project, “Ambrosia”, earned her a nomination for Best Picture Editing in a Motion Picture. 

Congratulations to our Film Production faculty, Adjunct Professors Murray Stiller (Best Sound Editing in a Short Drama - “The Old Woman in the Woods”) and Rafi Spivak (Best Picture Editing in a Motion Picture - “Crimes of Mike Recket”) who were nominated for their work.

ominees in the headlines include BFA Film Production alumnus Mark Sawyers and his film “Camera Shy”. The film was in the top two most nominated works, receiving a total of seven nominations including a Best Screenwriting nod for Sawyers. 

BFA Film Production alumni Nimisha Mukerji and Mark Ratzlaff, earned a total of five nominations for their two films “Blood Relations” and “Beauty Mark”, including Best Feature Length Documentary Program and Best Direction in a Documentary Program or series for “Blood Relations.” Their film “Beauty Mark” was acknowledged with nominations for Best Short Drama, and Best Screenwriting in a Short Drama. The Gala awards ceremony will be held Saturday June 8th at Vancouver’s Westin Bayshore Hotel.
