and the opportunity to learn in an interdisciplinary environment combining
Film, Creative Writing, Music, Digital Media and other university
disciplines. Our approach encourages students to bring leading edge theory
and research together with practice in the staging of innovative new works,
national premieres and classics from the world stage. Our faculty of

On the Move...
At the end of August, Film Production faculty and staff vacated Brock Hall Annex, and faculty from our Acting/Directing programs in Theatre moved out of Auditorium Annex. All are now in our new digs.
Located at 6358 University Boulevard, the TFP is directly across the street from the Dorothy Somerset and B.C. Binning Studios where most of our acting and directing classes are held. We are thrilled to start the new school year in this fabulous new space.

Formerly known as the Arts One Building (it housed the Arts One program, now located in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre), the Second World War vintage structure has been renovated and spruced up, and will henceforth be known as the Theatre-Film Production Building. The TFP will house faculty offices, film equipment, editing suites, and classes.

Term Two

BC Binning 12
Course Description:
Shepard and Pinter: Explorations in Contemporary Text for the Actor
Part One: Shepard Scenes with Stephen Malloy: Experience the unique imagination of America’s most prolific playwright, Sam Shepard. The actors will explore alternative methods of scene study in a non-traditional approach to the work of this Pulitzer Prize winning playwright.
Part Two: Exploring Pinter with Sarah Rodgers: Enter into the delicious, menacing world of the English playwright Harold Pinter. Pinter was the most influential playwright of modern time. Pinter was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2005. He is a favourite playwright of many actors. In this course you will have the opportunity to delve into his world full of theatrical pauses and silences, comedic timing and irony and menace. Ever wondered what the Pinter pause was all about - now is your time to find out.
Requirements: Students with at least 2nd year standing who have taken Theatre 230 or an equivalent introductory performance course as a pre-requisite.
To register: Give your name and student number to Karen Tong, Theatre Secretary, in Frederic Wood 207, or call her at 604-822-3880.
