The Department of Theatre and Film hopes to appoint part-time Teaching Assistants from among the first and second year MA/MFA/Phd students to assist in the following courses:

Please note that the above listed TA positions are dependent on Department of Theatre and Film budget approval. Some positions will be appointed at 50% (half time) and will have their duties reduced accordingly.
Qualifications: At a minimum, the applicant will have a BA/BFA degree or its equivalent, with academic and/or professional experience. The applicant must have a solid knowledge of theatre history, film studies or film production, depending on the course for which they are applying for.
Duties: TAs may be required, at a minimum, to mark, teach, attend classes, lead seminars, advise students, supervise production labs, hold office hours, give demonstrations and on occasion provide instruction in the courses they have been assigned to.
Hours of work: Varies by course. The average is 12 hours per week for 26 weeks (384 hours) for a full TA position. Please note that not all positions listed above are full TA positions.
Salary: Masters’ Students: GTA 2 $28.42/hour
Doctoral Students: GTA 1 $29.54/hour

This is a termed position from May 15 to August 31, 2012.
This position is funded in part through the Canadian Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. CSJ is specifically designed to assist students with securing summer employment. To be eligible for consideration for this position you must meet the following criteria: Must have been in school full-time this year and returning to your studies in the fall. Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident Must be between 15 and 30 years of age.
If CSJ funding is not approved, this position may not be filled.
The Opportunity Are you creative and passionate about telling stories on film? The Marketing & Communications Department of The Banff Centre is looking for a Summer Videographer to work with Marketing & Communications and Film & Media team members to create video content that communicates the stories behind the Banff Summer Arts Festival and The Banff Centre.
Responsibilities Identify and develop video topics/stories /concepts in conjunction with Marketing & Communications Team Members Coordinate interviews with artists, faculty, and staff and obtain signed releases from these individuals as needed. Make technical and creative decisions regarding such elements as shot composition and framing, appropriate lighting, interview questions etc. Shoot and edit videos for video podcasting. Post videos to YouTube and to appropriate pages on The Banff Centre's website. Link video casts to other social media for increased online presence The Ideal Candidate Is currently enrolled in a post-secondary program focusing on film/video, broadcast journalism, or communication arts having completed at least one year of their program. Has experience in creating stories for film or video, shot composition and framing, and basic editing experience. Is familiar with new media technologies and video podcasting. Possesses strong organizational skills and demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Is able to work with minimal supervision, making sound decisions and applying a high level of technical and administrative skills to complete assignments quickly and professionally. One to two years' experience in the field is an asset.
Special Requirements Candidates offered a position with the Centre, in this capacity, will be required to obtain a criminal record check through the local R.C.M.P. detachment, verifying a clear record before a final job offer can be made.
Employment Terms & Benefits
In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is an hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probationary period.
This position pays $14.89 per hour and increases to $16.01 per hour after probation, working up to 35 hours per week.
